11 irrigation facilities to be built in Kyrgyzstan this year

This year, the government will set to the construction of 11 irrigation facilities in Kyrgyzstan, the Director of the Department of Water Resources and Land Reclamation Kokumbek Tashtanaliev said today at a press conference.

According to him, 4 out of 11 facilities are planned to be commissioned this year. Construction of three of them will be financed at the expense of the republican budget. It is Kara-Kyshtak channel in Kadamjay district of Batken region worth 90 million soms, Bash-Kuugan in Jumgal district of Naryn region and Terek in Kara-Kuldzha district of Osh region.

«Many of them have been idle since Soviet times. Construction of some of them is 70 percent completed. As a result of the operation 11 irrigation facilities, 1,090 hectares of land will be provided with water, 4,200 jobs will be created. The total length of the channels is 27,000 km," Kokumbek Tashtanaliyev said.
