Bishkek – Osh road called biggest environmental disaster

«When one talks about environmental problems, he talks about Kumtor, but the biggest environmental disaster is Bishkek — road," chairman of the Union of Photojournalists Vlad Ushakov said at a meeting of civil activists with the leadership of the State Agency for Environmental Protection and Forestry.

According to him, at least 100 tons of fuels and lubricants per year are spilled onto the road, there is no serious research of damage from the fuel and oil spills to the soil and the river. «And all these spilled harmful substances fall into rivers, into alpine meadows," the photojournalist said.

As he noted, today the oil companies in  are not interested in ensuring the safety of transportation.

«Young people drive fuel trucks because one has to pay more to old, experienced drivers, and boys can be paid less, and they will drive there, spoil the road," the photojournalist said.

He also intends, with the help of experts, to test the soil in the and in Tash-Kumyr town.
