3 Issyk-Kul towns, 20 villages to hold large-scale clean-up

A large-scale clean-up will be held in three towns and twenty villages of Issyk-Kul region of Kyrgyzstan. The organizer of the event, Dmitry Andreev, told 24.kg news agency.

«The purpose of the campaign is cleaning of unsanctioned and spontaneous garbage dumps in public places of Issyk-Kul region. The clean-up will be held in three towns of Issyk-Kul region (Karakol, Cholpon-Ata, Balykchi) and twenty villages of the region. We want to involve local people and bring volunteers from Bishkek to clean up garbage together," the organizer said.

According to him, the organizers invite everyone to show activity, to show society their social responsibility and solidarity in preserving the purity of the biosphere territory of Issyk-Kul.

Recall, on May 5, at least 5 tons of solid household waste were collected within the framework of Taza Issyk-Kul project. The rubbish was sorted by categories — plastic, glass and paper, then it was sent to the collection point in Cholpon-Ata.
