The Defense Council of Kyrgyzstan may be renamed into the Security Council. The relevant bill was approved by the Committee for International Affairs, Defense and Security of the Parliament in the second reading.
It is reported that, the council will be renamed within the framework of the constitutional reform to carry out a unified state policy. The powers of the Council will also be extended in terms of working out decisions on the foreign and domestic policy of the state, ensuring its sustainable development for the long term.
The Security Council is a constitutional advisory body. It develops solutions aimed at protecting the constitutional order, sovereignty, independence and territorial integrity.
