Tekebayev writes report in pretrial detention centre

Omurbek Tekebayev wrote a report in the pretrial detention centre and gave it to the participants of the forum «Fair elections — guarantee of stability and peaceful transfer of power," which is being held today in Bishkek. A report written by the accused in corruption and fraud leader of Ata Meken party was read by MP Aida Salyanova.

Omurbek Tekebayev believes that the «Groundhog Day» has come in Kyrgyzstan, and calls on the Parliament to become an obstacle to the usurpation of power.

He recalled that in accordance with the Constitution and laws of the Kyrgyz Republic, the President is responsible for organizing and holding parliamentary elections, and the Parliament as the supreme legislative body fully carries political and legal responsibility for the organization and holding of the presidential elections.

However, there was a vicious practice of gradually leveling out of the stabilizing role of Parliament. Many deputies are subject to political persecution and almost all are under political pressure under the threat of instituting criminal proceedings.

The author of the report notes that the analysis of the constitutional amendments dated December 11 testifies to the intentional inclusion in the text of the Constitution of norms, provoking conflict in the relations between the president and the prime minister, both in the relations of the prime minister and the parliament.

Omurbek Tekebayev called on the members of the Parliament to feel personal and historical responsibility and show political will, and wished the opposition to be more constructive and united.
