Bishkek City Court leaves Sadyr Japarov in detention center until May 28

Ex-MP Sadyr Japarov remains in custody in Bishkek pretrial detention center 1 until May 28. The decision was made by the judicial board of the Bishkek City Court.

According to his lawyer Sharabidin Toktosunov, only Anarbek Beishenbekov out of 12 of his supporters, who went to the rally on March 25, was released under house arrest. The rest, according to the decision of the Supreme Court, remained in custody.

Recall, Sadyr Japarov was detained and brought to the State National Security Committee of the Kyrgyz Republic in the framework of a criminal case instituted on the basis of the crimes envisaged by the articles: the threat of murder, hostage-taking, hooliganism, and violence against a representative of the authorities. He was charged on March 26 based on the investigation results.

Pervomaisky District Court of Bishkek chose a preventive measure in the form of detention until the end of the investigation. The court determined the place of detention — Bishkek pretrial detention center 1.

On April 2, Sadyr Japarov was found on the floor of his cell with cuts on his arm and neck and was transferred to the prison infirmary. According to him, he injured himself.
