MES of Kyrgyzstan lacks funds to prevent landslides

The Ministry of Emergency Situations of Kyrgyzstan lacks means to prevent landslides. The deputies raised this issue today at a session of Parliament.

According to Osmonbek Artykbayev, the government carried out insufficient work in the field of prevention of emergency situations. The Ministry of Emergency Situations does not have a comprehensive program. It is necessary to create a fund, which would have money to prevent emergencies.

Vice Prime Minister Zhenish Razakov noted that a program existed. It provides loans up to 200,000 soms and allocation of land for resettlement.

Deputy Minister of Emergency Situations Kalys Akhmatov added that seedlings were planted in 543 dangerous places. «The Ministry of Emergency Situations had an opportunity to take money from the fund, but it had been closed about five years ago," he said.
