Death toll in emergency situations increases 10 times for year

Death toll in emergency situations in the Kyrgyz Republic increased 10 times for the year, Vice Prime Minister Zhenish Razakov said today at the session of the Parliament.

According to him, since the beginning of 2017, there have been 2,225 natural and technogenic emergencies. 100 people died, in 2016 — ten people.

Over 26 years, 518 landslides had occurred. Only this year, more than a hundred landslides were recorded. The government revealed 4,900 landslide-prone areas.

Recall, a landslide with the volume of 200,000 cubic meters occurred on the morning of April 29 in the village of Ayu of Uzgen district, Osh region. It covered 11 houses, seven of which were inhabited by people. 24 people died.
