Ministry of Transport tells about future toll roads in Kyrgyzstan

The Ministry of Transport and Roads of Kyrgyzstan told 24.kg news agency which roads in Kyrgyzstan would become toll in the country.

It is noted that the strategy for the development of the road industry for 2016–2025 to ease the burden on the republican budget determined the creation and development of a network of toll roads as one of the main priority areas.

A fee has not been determined yet. The first variant provides for turning the roads into the tollways. In this case, the tariff will be set by the commission. The second option envisages construction of new routes within public-private partnership. Consequently, the fee will depend on this.

The law of the Kyrgyz Republic on roads provides fee for passage on public roads. At the same time, there must be another free public highway in this direction.

Thus, Kuaky-Kochkor, an alternative North-South route may become the first tollways in Kyrgyzstan.
