FSB detains Akram Azimov, brother of suspect of organization of terrorist attack

The Federal Security Service (FSB) of Russia reported that Akram Azimov, the elder brother of the possible organizer of the crime Abror, was detained in Novaya Moskva as part of the case on the terrorist attack in St. Petersburg metro, the Russian media reported.

According to the FSB, it is assumed that Akram Azimov helped in the transfer of money used in the preparation of the terrorist attack, and in the organization of communication with international terrorists. According to the Investigative Committee of Russia, the detainee had a «RGD-5 ball grenade.»

As RIA Novosti reported, referring to a source in law enforcement agencies of Kyrgyzstan, Akram Azimov wasn’t deported from the republic, he went to Moscow to testify about the terrorist attack.

The interlocutor of the agency pointed out that the same situation was with Jalilov’s parents who on the next day after the terrorist attack went to Moscow to take part in investigative activities, in particular, in the identification of the body.

According to some information, the Azimovs brothers knew the executor of the explosion Jalilov. Now the intelligence services are checking information that shortly before the attack all three could leave for Turkey, where they allegedly met with representatives of one of the terrorist groups.

The Basmanny District Court of Moscow sanctioned the arrest of Abror Azimov, suspected of organizing a terrorist attack in the metro of St. Petersburg. He didn’t object the pretrial detention centre, but insisted that he only executed the orders of the others.
