National Bank of Kyrgyzstan conducts intervention first time in 3 months

The National Bank of Kyrgyzstan conducted an intervention for the first time in three months because of the falling exchange rate of US dollar. Its official website informs.

The National Bank came out in the currency market the day before. In total, it purchased $ 5,450 million with calculations on the date of the transaction and $ 3,350 million — with calculations different from the date of the transaction.

The National Bank bought dollars for the first time since September 2016.

The bank was forced to intervene after a three-month period by the fall in the exchange rate. For the week, it grew by 1 som. On Monday, it was bought for 67.2 soms.

Today, the capital’s exchange offices and commercial banks buy the dollar for 67.5–67.7 soms, and sell it for 67.8–68 soms. The nominal rate is 67,879 soms (a drop of 0.6 percent a day).
