Former head of Kyrgyztelecom board charged

Ex-head of the board of Kyrgyztelecom Emil Eshenaliev was charged. The State Service for Combating Economic Crimes of Kyrgyzstan reported.

According to it, the investigation was completed, which found out that the state suffered damage in an especially large amount — $ 650,200 as a result of criminal actions by Kyrgyztelecom management and illegal contracts with Global KVANT Services GmbH and KazTransCom.

He was charged under the Article «Abuse of powers by employees of commercial organizations or other organizations» of the Criminal Code of the Kyrgyz Republic.

The deputy commission, formed to study the issue on a sharp increase in Internet tariffs, recommended the government to release Emil Eshenaliev from office.

Recall, in late November last year, the Prosecutor General’s Office opened a criminal case on illegal signing of contracts with the Kazakh side for purchase of Internet services by the management of Kyrgyztelecom.
