Detained in Russia on suspicion of recruitment - Russian citizens

Detained in St. Petersburg Obid Abdyraimov, born in 1978, and Aizhigit Aitmatov, born in 1985, are citizens of the Russian Federation, the press service of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of the Kyrgyz Republic reported.

It is noted that they obtained Russian citizenship in 2007 and since then have resided on the territory of Russia.

Abdyraimov and Aitmatov are not citizens of Kyrgyzstan for 10 years.

According to it, at present they are being checked for involvement in extremist activities in Kyrgyzstan, but according to preliminary data, there is no such information.

«Most likely, they entered or were recruited into the ranks of banned extremist organizations, when residing in Russia," the press service added.

Earlier it was reported that Obid Abdyraimov and Aizhigit Aitmatov were detained in St. Petersburg. They are charged with the article «Incitement, recruitment or involvement in terrorist activities» of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation.
