Kyrgyzstan seeks common ground with Austria

Kyrgyzstan and Austria don’t make full use of the available potential, Deputy Prime Minister of Kyrgyzstan Oleg Pankratov stated at a meeting with representatives of business circles of the Austrian Republic.

According to the information department of the government, for Kyrgyzstan the arrival of a group of entrepreneurs representing the largest Austrian companies is a momentous event.

«Both sides don’t make full use of the available potential. We need to look for specific points of contact that will help expand mutually beneficial cooperation in various fields, including in mutual trade," Oleg Pankratov said.

The trade turnover between our countries, which reached just over $ 8 million in 2016, should be increased.

Representative of the Austrian Federal Economic Chamber Michael Angerer noted that Austrian businessmen are ready for cooperation. The first step in this direction has already been taken. A memorandum of cooperation was signed between the Russian-Kyrgyz Development Fund and the Austrian Control Bank.

«Taking into account the rich experience and advanced technology of Austrian companies in the fields of agriculture, hydropower, engineering, tourism, we are ready to implement projects that both sides will benefit," he concluded.
