needs a fair distribution of income and a sharp increase in GDP in order to improve its position on the world stage. The country’s President Almazbek Atambayev announced today at the meeting of the National Council for Sustainable Development.

According to him, the state pays a lot of attention to the country’s food security. However, the President believes that the work is not enough, although there is progress. As an example, the head of state cited the fact that before the revolution the farmers received loans at 22 percent per annum, and now — at 6–10 percent.

International financial institutions stopped considering us as a poor country. People stopped calling themselves poor, because it’s shameful to say that when you can work.

«The work was carried out in the most difficult conditions, but we were able to solve all the problems and improve the well-being of citizens. Today our people live no worse than in neighboring countries. That’s our feature, our gimmick," Almazbek Atambayev believes.

«Issues of equity in the distribution of income in the state are as important as GDP growth and economic development. I believe that this is more important than the presence of oil and gas. Power in the state must be fair. Thanks to our guys who died on April 7, 2010, we made this leap towards building an equitable state. Politicians should not consider power as a way to control and distribute the resources and national revenues in their own interests," the head of state added.
