Omurbek Tekebayev remains member of Venice Commission

The leader of Ata Meken party, MP Omurbek Tekebayev, remains a member of the Venice Commission from . Its representatives informed 24.kg news agency.

According to the substitute member of the Commission from Moldova Vladimir Grosu, the decision on termination of membership in the Venice Commission is taken at a plenary session. However, decision on Tekebayev was not made.

«Namely, our decision should be taken as a basis, but not an internal statutory act or order," Vladimir Grosu explained.

In her turn, External Relations Officer at the Venice Commission, Tatyana Mychelova, also confirmed in an official letter to 24.kg news agency that a message on nomination of the new substitute in respect of Kyrgyzstan- Mamyrov Erkinbek (ex-head of the Constitutional Chamber of Kyrgyzstan- Note of 24.kg news agency) was received on March 16, but, as Tatyana Mychelova noted, Tekebayev remains a member of the Venice Commission.

On March 11, President Almazbek Atamabayev by his decree appointed Erkinbek Mamyrov a substitute member of the Venice Commission from .
