Three people run for post of mufti in Kyrgyzstan

Three candidates run for the post of mufti in Kyrgyzstan. Deputy Chairman of the Ulema Council of the republic Mars Ibraev told 24.kg news agency.

«The elections will be held on April 3. New mufti will be elected by the members of the Ulema Council, and his candidacy will be approved on April 4 at the kurultai of the Muslims of Kyrgyzstan," Mars Ibraev said.

The acting mufti Maksat azhy Toktomushev, member of the Ulema Council Sheikh Chebak azhy Zhalilov and a teacher, former kazy of Osh and Batken regions Niyazaly Aripov are nominated to the post.

According to him, delegates from all regions of the country will come to the kurultai of the Muslims.

«Participants of the kurultai will also hear the reports of the mufti for three years and the report of the Ulema Council," he said.

According to the Deputy Chairman of the Ulema Council, the chairman of the Central Verification Commission, which exercises financial control, will be elected at the kurultai.

«Six out of eight candidates for this post were selected according to the documents, they will have to pass the exam. The candidate who will show the best result (he should be competent in financial issues and have higher financial education) will be put forward for approval at the kurultai," Mars Ibraev said.

According to him, the Central Verification Commission controls all financial issues of the muftiyat, kazyyast, Hajj and in general all religious institutions and events.
