Ex-ombudsman of Kyrgyzstan Tursunbek Akun sentenced to community service

Ex-ombudsman Tursunbek Akun was sentenced to community service and a fine for support of Sadyr Japarov’s associates, who tried to break through a police cordon near the GKNB building on March 25. Executive office of the ex-ombudsman reported.

It should be noted that criminal cases were initiated on facts of hooliganism, causing property damage, and using violence against a representative of the authorities against 12 participants of the rally in support of Sadyr Japarov, held on Saturday in Bishkek near GKNB building.

64 people from among the protesters were arrested for a period from two to five days. 12 people were fined. Two participants of the rally were warned. Preventive conversation was held with the rest of the participants.

Recall, Sadyr Japarov lately resided in Cyprus. He was detained right upon his arrival on the border with Kazakhstan and taken to GKNB for interrogation in the criminal case on taking Emilbek Kaptagaev hostage in 2013. His supporters held a rally at the building of the State Committee demanding the release of the former deputy.

Special services dispersed the participants of the protest.
