In 2016, the hippodrome in Cholpon-Ata hosted the 2^nd World Nomad Games. The organizers defined their goal to revive and preserve the historical and cultural heritage of the world nomadic civilization.

The correspondent of 24.kg news agency visited the near Cholpon-Ata, where the hippodrome is located, to see the state of such an expensive and significant for the republic facility.

There are few events in winter time, so the racetrack stands empty.

According to the head of the press service of the State Agency for Youth Affairs, Physical Culture and Sports Nurdin Sultambayev, «this year it is planned to hold more than 10 large-scale events at the hippodrome and in the sports complex." «In particular, the opening of the tourist season in  region," he said.

«The Uluu Manas oyundary» also included in the plan. These are national competitions in which athletes will compete in 10 games," Nurdin Sultambayev said.

Recall, the first World Nomad Games took place in September 2014 on the shore of Issyk-Kul Lake. The competitions were held in 10 sports with the participation of 19 countries.
