Water in Toktogul reservoir to comprise 12.7 bln cubic meters

Water in Toktogul reservoir will comprise 12.7 billion cubic meters by the end of the heating season, April 1. This is 3.8 billion cubic meters more than in the last year, the head of the State Committee for Industry, Energy and Subsoil Use Duishenbek Zilaliyev said at a government meeting today.

According to him, as of March 23, 2017, water in the Toktogul reservoir reaches over 12.9 billion cubic meters. In the past year, the figure was 9 billion cubic meters.

«In 2016, the situation with the accumulation of water in the Toktogul reservoir improved. As of October 1, 2016, the volume of water amounted to 17.3 billion cubic meters, which is 4.3 billion cubic meters more than on October 1, 2015. Accumulation of this volume of water is achieved thanks to increased water inflow, import of electricity, reduction of its consumption due to favorable climatic conditions and the adopted tariff policy," Duyshenbek Zilaliev said.
