Khutbas on tuberculosis problem to be delivered in mosques of Kyrgyzstan

Today, on March 24, at least 1,770 mosques in Kyrgyzstan will host Friday prayers, dedicated to health issues in Islam. It is timed to the World TB Day, marked annually on March 24.

According to the Ministry of Health, USAID Defeat Tuberculosis project together with the Spiritual Directorate of the Muslims of Kyrgyzstan worked out a text of the sermon -khutba, which was approved by the Mufti and included in the plan of Friday prayers for the purpose of conducting preventive health measures among the population.

For 9 months of 2016, Kyrgyzstan registered 4, 420 newly detected cases of tuberculosis, 312 of which were in children.

In general, in 2016, there was a decrease in the incidence of tuberculosis by 3.3 percent. TB death rate decreased by 15 percent (except for Batken and Issyk-Kul regions).
