Active Hizb ut-Tahrir member detained in Kyrgyzstan

Employees of the State Committee for National Security of Kyrgyzstan detained an active member of the banned extremist organization Hizb ut-Tahrir. Press service of the State Committee for National Security.

According to it, on March 7, members of the committee detained a 58-year-old Kyrgyzstani in the course of activities in Kara-Suu town, Osh region aimed at suppressing the subversive activities of the extremist underground organization Hizb ut-Tahrir, carrying out anti-constitutional activities and spreading the ideology of building a theocratic state-caliphate.

Earlier, the detainee was already tried for instigating national, racial, religious or inter-regional hatred.

According to the results of the theological examination of the confiscated printed media, a criminal case was initiated against the detainee under the Article «Organization of activities of a public association and religious organization or any other organization in respect of which the court decided to liquidate or prohibit it in connection with the implementation of extremist activities, as well as involving citizens in its activities» of the Criminal Code of the Kyrgyz Republic.

The detainee was placed in pretrial detention center of GKNB.
