Russian Embassy sends note to Kyrgyz Foreign Affairs Ministry

The Russian Embassy in Kyrgyzstan sent a note to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Kyrgyz Republic with a request to explain the reasons for the deportation and the ban on entry to journalist Grigory Mikhailov. Press secretary of the diplomatic mission Darya Pakhomova told 24.kg news agency.

According to her, she talked with the editor-in-chief of the Russian edition REGNUM on Friday evening. As of today, the Embassy knows about the expulsion of Grigory Mikhailov not more than the representatives of the media of Kyrgyzstan. The diplomatic mission sent a request to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Kyrgyz Republic to clarify the reasons for the ban on entry.

The note was sent only today, so the Embassy has not yet received a response so far.

«We first need to find out why he was banned from entering. We will take any further steps as soon as the response from the Foreign Affairs Ministry is received. We do not have any additional information on the case with Grigory Mikhailov," Darya Pakhomova commented.

Recall, the journalist was made to leave the territory of Kyrgyzstan on Friday evening. He was not allowed to reenter the country. Now he flies to Moscow (Russia), because he can not stay an indefinite time in Almaty (Kazakhstan). There he will meet with the management and lawyers of REGNUM agency. They will decide what to do next.
