Seven members of Hizb ut-Tahrir detained in Kyrgyzstan

Seven members of the banned religious organization Hizb ut-Tahrir were detained in Kyrgyzstan, the press service of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of the Kyrgyz Republic reported.

According to it, during searches in the houses of Hizb ut-Tahrir members, extremist and religious literature was found, the age of the detainees was from 21 to 40 years.

The searches were carried out in the framework of the criminal case initiated by the Alamudun District Department of the Interior under Article 299 «Purchase, storage, transportation and transfer of extremist materials for distribution or production and distribution» of the Criminal Code of the Kyrgyz Republic.

Forensic theological examination was appointed. The investigation is under way. The searches were conducted at the addresses where citizens who had previously been convicted of similar crimes and who are active members of the religious organizations reside. Two of the detainees were placed in the temporary detention facility, and the rest are being investigated.
