Bakiyev tells why he is not brought to trial for sponging

The second deposed president of Kyrgyzstan gave an interview to the non-state media in Belarus for the first time.

Kurmanbek Bakiyev told Radio Freedom that Belarusian authorities have allocated his family 15 hectares of land within the boundaries of Minsk, close to Minsk-Arena. Earlier it was reported that the Bakiyevs bought a plot in the luxury district “Drozdy,” where senior Belarus officials built their cottages.

Bakiyev said that hasn’t moved into his own house yet. For five years, he has been building it, and hopes to move this spring.

Kurmanbek Bakiyev and his wife Nazgul Tolomusheva and their two children live in the residence of the President of Belarus Alexander Lukashenko. It is also located in “Drozdy.”

The ousted Kyrgyz president said that he pays for utilities, electricity, water.

We don’t get a free ride from the Belarusian state. And don’t pay for sponging too: my wife works.
