Azerbaijan doesn’t understand position of Kyrgyzstan on results of ECO summit

The position of Kyrgyzstan, which didn’t join the political points of the final declaration of the summit of the Organization for Economic Cooperation in Islamabad, is absolutely incomprehensible, Azeri.Today reported.

 “The final statement of the member-states openly stated that the existence of conflicts in the area of ​​organization hinders economic development and cooperation. In addition, the statement stressed that development, peace and security in the region are directly linked to sustainable development and stability. In general, the organic link between economic development and regional cooperation in peace and security – adopted by the international community principle, and it is the basis of the concept of sustainable development of the United Nations,” the spokesman of the Azerbaijani Foreign Ministry Hikmet Hajiyev said.

Therefore, Kyrgyzstan's position is absolutely incomprehensible. This position is a serious question to whose mill it brings grist.

The final statement of the Heads of State organizations expressed concern that the existing on ECO space unresolved conflicts, particularly the Armenian-Azerbaijani conflict, obstruct economic development and realization of the full potential of the region, and regional co-operation in a wider format.

The statement noted the importance of making efforts to resolve these conflicts on the basis of norms and principles of international law, in particular the territorial integrity and sovereignty of countries.
