State can save through opening of private schools

The state can save money by increasing the number of private schools in the country, deputy Evgeniya Strokova said today at a meeting of the Parliament.

She noted that a few years ago she would have been against the opening of private schools. However, having studied the experience of other countries, the MP supports the proposal of deputies to exempt private educational organization from paying income tax.

Strokova believes that Kyrgyzstan should develop public-private partnership in education. Now, the Ministry of Education is more concerned with economic issues — the construction, repair, purchase of furniture — instead of performing its duties.

«Money for education is still being allocated. Private schools don’t require money which intended for education of children. They knowingly release budget money. And this is a big advantage, if private owners take over the development of infrastructure. The development of private school education gives an opportunity to allocate more money to public schools. Ministry of Education needs to track education policy both in public and in private schools," Evgeniya Strokova said.
