Azimbek Beknazarov plans to hold next kurultai

A former member of the interim government, member of the current opposition Azimbek Beknazarov intends to hold kurultai in Bishkek. Former ombudsman of Kyrgyzstan Tursunbek Akun informed 24.kg news agency.

Azimbek Beknazarov himself is not available for comment. Tursunbek Akun confirmed that the former ally of the incumbent president of the country planned to hold the assembly in early March, and to invite representatives of the authorities to it.

During kurultai, it is planned to discuss the political situation in the country in connection with the upcoming presidential elections.

He added that other opposition leaders, human rights activists and members of Parliament will be invited to the kurultai.

Former high-ranking officials of Askar Akayev also plan to hold one more kurultai.

According to Azattyk, association, which will include representatives of the scientific elite, business, acting and resigned politicians, is created in Kyrgyzstan.

Mambet Mamakeev, Mitalip Mamytov, Apas Jumagulov, Tursunbek Chyngyshev, Osmonakun Ibraimov, Zhumagul Saadanbekov expressed their desire to join the new association.

Members of the association have set a task for themselves — to influence the current processes, to discuss in a constructive manner and in cooperation with the authorities all the accumulated painful issues, find solutions to these problems. At the very least, they want to act as a bridge between the people and the authorities.

The agenda includes national kurultai, which will be attended, as expected, by representatives from all regions of the country.
