47 women died in Kyrgyzstan in 2016 during pregnancy, in labour and the postpartum period. The Ministry of Health provided such data.

The low rate in the capital is explained by the fact that the cases of deaths of women in Bishkek hospitals are transferred to the regions — place of their residence.
Extragenital diseases (31.9 percent), bleeding (19.1 percent) and anaphylactic shock (17.1 percent) take the lead in the structure of causes of maternal mortality.
The infant mortality rate in 2016 has decreased in comparison with the previous year by 7.8 percent. Therewith, there has been registered an increase in Naryn (by 12.8 percent) and Talas (10.5 percent) regions with a decline in other regions.
