Gold and antimony form basis of metallurgical industry of Kyrgyzstan

Almost all indicators of the metallurgical industry’s growth in the Kyrgyz Republic are the result of the development of Kumtor gold mine and antimony production. This was announced at the board meeting of the State Committee for Industry, Energy and Subsoil Use.

With the launch of Kumtor gold mine and refining production, the volume of output in metallurgical industry has increased by 15 times.

In 2016, there were produced 16.4 tons of gold at 97.8 billion soms.

Currently, the gold in the country is mined by Kumtor Gold Company JSC, KAZ Minerals Bozymchak LLC, Kyrgyzaltyn JSC (branches «Makmalzoloto," «Solton-Sary» mine, «Tereksai mine," «Affinazhnyi zavod»).

Antimony is produced only by «Kadamdzhai Antimony Enterprise." Last year, production stood idle due to lack of raw materials. It produced only 40 tons of antimony and its compounds (6.9 million soms).
