SCNS detains customs officers over illegal clearance of goods
The State Committee for National Security of Kyrgyzstan (SCNS), together with the Internal Investigations Department of the State Customs Service for the southern region, detained two customs officers of Osh Customs.
They are inspectors from the inspection group at the BIMI Osh Service customs clearance facility, identified by the initials K.U.T. and T.A.M.
Investigators believe that the customs officers, acting in collusion with certain foreign economic activity participants and receiving financial compensation, deliberately failed to properly inspect and examine transported goods.
According to the security service, they also facilitated the clearance of shipments containing inaccurate declarations, allowing established customs procedures and controls to be circumvented.
The SCNS said these actions caused significant material damage to the state.
The detainees have been placed in the SCNS detention center. The investigation is ongoing, and other customs officials who may have been involved in the scheme are being identified.
