Heavy mudflow disrupts water supply in Batken

Residents of Batken have been temporarily left without centralized water supply following a strong mudflow that occurred in the city on June 22.

According to local authorities, heavy rainfall combined with a subsequent power outage prevented sufficient water accumulation in city reservoirs, resulting in a temporary suspension of drinking water supply across the city.

Officials emphasized that no damage to the water distribution infrastructure has been recorded. The disruption was caused by natural hazards and interruptions in electricity supply rather than a failure in the water supply system itself.

To ensure residents continue to have access to water, authorities have organized water deliveries using tanker trucks. Relevant services are working to stabilize the situation and restore normal water supply operations as soon as possible.
