Participants of the International Issyk-Kul Forum, held in Cholpon-Ata, adopted a resolution on June 20 before summing up the event.

In the document, the forum participants noted with concern that modern global development is accompanied by multifactorial, closely interconnected crises. These include heightened geopolitical tensions, an increase in the number of armed conflicts, deepening climate change, widening socioeconomic inequality, and rapid technological advancement. All of this, as noted in the resolution, has led humanity to systemic instability.

The adopted resolution addresses issues such as holding the forum on a permanent basis, strengthening dialogue in resolving international conflicts, environmental protection, and other initiatives.

Specifically, the participants proposed drawing on the experience of the Issyk-Kul Forum and the spiritual legacy of Chingiz Aitmatov to develop a strategy of global humanism, tolerance, and collective dialogue.

It was also proposed to promote the principle «Aalamdyk Asyldyk» (Planetary Nobility), based on Aitmatov’s ideas on kindness and spiritual ecology, and integrate it into national and regional development strategies.

Forum participants called on heads of state to end wars and resolve conflicts peacefully—through negotiations and constructive dialogue.

Furthermore, the international and local communities were called upon to strengthen efforts to protect nature and the environment, particularly mountain ecosystems, glaciers, and the Issyk-Kul biosphere territory.

The resolution also contains a proposal to appeal to the UN to grant the Issyk-Kul Forum international status and include it among partners in promoting a nuclear-free and secure world.

To ensure the forum’s continuity, it is proposed to hold it every four years in Kyrgyzstan, on the shores of Issyk-Kul Lake. It is also planned to establish a permanent coordinating council, or secretariat, for the forum in Bishkek, which will operate on a voluntary basis.

Participants also proposed that UNESCO support the creation of an online almanac, «Issyk-Kul Forum,» which will publish materials on humanism, the work of Chingiz Aitmatov, and philanthropy at the local and global levels.

Another initiative is the establishment of an international scholarship named after Chingiz Aitmatov for young researchers studying planetary humanism, ecology, and the preservation of cultural identity.

The proposals and initiatives outlined in the resolution will be submitted to reputable international organizations for support.

The International Issyk-Kul Forum began on June 18. President Sadyr Japarov and former head of state Sooronbay Jeenbekov attended the opening ceremony.

Forum guests included a delegation led by Nobel Prize laureate and Chairman of the Chinese Writers’ Union Mo Yan, Ukrainian writer and translator Mykola Vaskiv, Chairman of the Tatarstan Writers’ Union Rkail Zaydulin, former Secretary General of TURKSOY Dusen Kaseinov, Professor of Lomonosov Moscow State University Marklen Konurbaev , Advisor to the President of Kazakhstan Bauyrzhan Omarov, President of the Turkic Academy Shahin Mustafayev, as well as other local and international scholars, public figures, and political figures.

Forty years ago, in 1986, Chingiz Aitmatov founded the Issyk-Kul Forum. Around twenty prominent figures and thinkers of the 20th century participated in it. They discussed the future of humanity, its impending threats, and challenges.
