Speaker of the Zhogorku Kenesh of Kyrgyzstan Marlen Mamataliev met with President of Kazakhstan Kassym-Jomart Tokayev during his official visit to Kazakhstan.
The sides discussed the development of political, economic, and humanitarian cooperation, as well as issues of interparliamentary interaction.
One of the topics of discussion was cultural and humanitarian cooperation. In particular, the Kyrgyz parliament speaker proposed naming one of the central streets in Astana after prominent Kyrgyz statesman Zhusup Abdrakhmanov.
The Kazakhstan’s president emphasized the special significance of Marlen Mamataliev’s first official visit to the country and stated that Kyrgyzstan remains a close neighbor, brotherly state, and reliable partner for Kazakhstan.
Kassym-Jomart Tokayev also highlighted Kyrgyzstan’s strong economic growth and congratulated the country on its election as a non-permanent member of the UN Security Council, calling it an important event for all of Central Asia.
Following the meeting, the sides confirmed their readiness to further develop strategic partnership, strengthen interparliamentary ties, and implement previously reached agreements.
