President of Kyrgyzstan Sadyr Japarov signed a law ratifying the agreement between Kyrgyzstan and Japan on the elimination of double taxation on income taxes.
The document was signed on December 19, 2025, in Tokyo. Previously, the Zhogorku Kenesh adopted a law on its ratification, which is necessary for the Kyrgyz Republic to complete domestic procedures, after which the agreement will enter into force.
Previously, the Ministry of Economy and Commerce explained that the document is necessary to develop a common approach to the relationship between the tax legislation of the Kyrgyz Republic and Japan, which would simultaneously reflect national provisions in the tax legislation of the Kyrgyz Republic.
The law is a unified form for resolving problems and challenges that arise in the legal sphere of international double taxation, officials explained.
The document aims to eliminate situations where the same income is taxed in both Kyrgyzstan and Japan. This is important for companies, investors, and individuals who earn income in one country but are residents of another.
