Speaker of the Zhogorku Kenesh of Kyrgyzstan Marlen Mamataliev met with Chairman of the Mazhilis Yerlan Koshanov during his official visit to Kazakhstan. The press service of the Parliament reported.

The sides discussed the development of political, economic, cultural and humanitarian relations between the brotherly states, as well as strengthening interparliamentary cooperation.

They also exchanged views on enhancing comprehensive partnership and reviewed the current state of cooperation in water supply, energy and agriculture. In addition, proposals were voiced for developing a tourist hiking route from Almaty to Issyk-Kul.

Marlen Mamataliev stressed the importance of the project aimed at creating the route, noting that tourism ties between the two countries have been actively developing in recent years. As an example, he pointed out that around 10,000 citizens of Kyrgyzstan visited Kazakhstan during the May holidays alone, while the number of Kazakh tourists vacationing at Issyk-Kul increases significantly in summer.

«Therefore, in order to fully use the potential of the tourism industry, it is necessary to ensure unhindered transport links for citizens. Brotherly peoples should be able to freely visit each other and cross the border without any difficulties,» Marlen Mamataliev said.

In this regard, the sides discussed improving the operation of border checkpoints, modernizing them in line with current standards, and ensuring safe transport routes.
