An additional shipment of vegetable oil from Russia has arrived in Osh, consisting of 121 tons. The supplies will be distributed under social and infrastructure projects in the southern regions of Kyrgyzstan. The Ministry of Labor, Social Security and Migration reported.

The deliveries are carried out within the framework of a program implemented jointly by national authorities and the United Nations World Food Programme (WFP).

In May, 675 tons of enriched flour were also delivered to Osh. The food supplies are intended to support local communities, restore infrastructure, and assist vulnerable groups of the population.

Joint projects also include the restoration of irrigation systems and water supply facilities, tree planting, reinforcement of riverbanks to reduce disaster risks, as well as training in modern agricultural practices and income-generation activities.

Russia is the largest donor of the WFP in the Kyrgyz Republic. Over the past 15 years, the government of the Russian Federation and the WFP have jointly supported the population of Kyrgyzstan through a wide range of initiatives, from emergency assistance and recovery to development programs. These include government-led efforts such as improved nutrition for persons with disabilities and paid public works programs.

The WFP and Russia said they will continue joint efforts to support vulnerable population in Kyrgyzstan.
