Kyrgyzstan will propose fundamental changes to the United Nations Charter. President Sadyr Japarov stated this in an interview with Kabar news agency.
According to him, he was confident back in February that Kyrgyzstan would be elected and instructed Foreign Minister Jeenbek Kulubaev to begin the necessary preparatory work.
He added that the UN’s authority should be raised to a high level. When it comes to the organization’s decisions, they must be strictly implemented by every state.
«Otherwise, it turns out that if the UN has six committees, the decisions of five of them are practically ignored. In most cases, only the resolutions of the Security Council are enforced. Therefore, we will propose amendments to the UN Charter. Any decisions adopted by the organization should be implemented 100 percent. Every state should stop acting at its own discretion and creating chaos. If sanctions against any state are being considered, the issue should be reviewed within the UN framework, and sanctions should only be imposed by decision of the organization,» the president said.
The head of state also stressed the need to put an end to what he described as the current disorder, in which individual countries impose sanctions on others at their own discretion.
