On May 21, 2026, at 7.10 p.m. the 102 service received a report of monuments damaged at a cemetery by unidentified individuals, the press service of the Department of Internal Affairs of Leninsky district of Bishkek reported.
Following the incident, the Investigative Service of the Department of Internal Affairs of Leninsky district initiated a criminal case under Article 280 of the Criminal Code of the Kyrgyz Republic (hooliganism).
Six minors aged between 13 and 16 were brought to the police. Five of them were released under the supervision of their legal guardians. One 16-year-old suspect was placed in a temporary detention facility of the Main Internal Affairs Department of Bishkek under Article 96 of the Criminal Procedure Code of the Kyrgyz Republic.
Police are urging parents and legal guardians to strengthen supervision over minors, especially during evening and night hours, and remind them of liability for unlawful actions, including damage to cultural and public property.
The investigation is ongoing.
Earlier, unknown individuals vandalized and set fire to several graves at a local cemetery in Novopavlovka municipal territorial administration. Relatives of the deceased reported the incident to the police. Preliminary reports indicate that around 30 burial sites were damaged.
