109 opium poppy plants and weapons found in Issyk-Kul region

Officers of the Drug Control Service of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of the Kyrgyz Republic uncovered illegal possession of narcotics and firearms in Issyk-Kul region.

During a search of a local resident’s property, police discovered 109 opium poppy plants, cannabis seeds, an unregistered firearm, and ammunition without documents.

A criminal case has been opened under Article 283 (illegal production of narcotic drugs, psychotropic substances, and their analogues without intent to sell) and Article 267 (illegal circulation of weapons and ammunition) of the Criminal Code of the Kyrgyz Republic.

Forensic chemical examinations of the seized substances have been ordered, the investigation is ongoing.
