Two earthquakes — in Afghanistan and Tajikistan — felt in Kyrgyzstan

A magnitude 7 earthquake hit Afghanistan and was felt in Kyrgyzstan, the Institute of Seismology of the National Academy of Sciences of the Kyrgyz Republic reported.

According to the institute, the tremors were recorded on April 3 at 10.12 p.m. The epicenter was located in Afghanistan, approximately 310 kilometers south of the Kyrgyz village of Karamyk and 360 kilometers south of the city of Batken.

The intensity of the quake in southern regions of Kyrgyzstan reached around magnitude 3.

Another earthquake was recorded earlier, at 4.26 p.m. in Tajikistan.

According to the Institute of Seismology, its epicenter was located 45 kilometers east of the Tajik city of Garm, 100 kilometers southwest of the Kyrgyz village of Kara-Teyit, and 115 kilometers south of Batken.

The intensity of that quake reached around magnitude 3 in the villages of Kara-Teyit, Karamyk, and Karavshin.
