Over 1,000 police officers to patrol Bishkek over weekend

More than 1,000 police officers will patrol Bishkek today and tomorrow, following instructions by the head of the city’s Main Department of Internal Affairs.

According to the department’s press service, a roll call and briefing of the capital’s police personnel was held ahead of the weekend.

Officers from the Main Department of Internal Affairs and its divisions are tasked with:

responding to all emergency calls received via the 102 hotline;
ensure a high level of customer service for citizens who contact law enforcement agencies, with prompt resolution of their requests and complaints;
conducting preventive and awareness activities near reservoirs, canals, swimming pools, and areas with strong currents;
taking action against public order violators in public places;
identifying drunk drivers, setting up mobile posts, and penalizing traffic offenders;
easing traffic congestion near markets, shopping centers, and other busy locations;
carrying out raids in entertainment venues;
identifying minors out at night without adult supervision.

Particular attention should be paid to public gathering places such as parks, public gardens, entertainment venues, and shopping centers.

Patrol police will also increase their monitoring of the city’s roads. They will primarily focus on identifying drunk drivers and preventing traffic accidents.

Residents and visitors to the capital are asked to observe public order, laws, and traffic regulations.
