Preparations for the construction of a national vaccine warehouse have begun in Kyrgyzstan, the Ministry of Health’s press center reported.
According to the ministry, this is a key infrastructure facility for ensuring the sustainability of the immunization system and the reliability of the cold chain. The decision was made to ensure the safe storage and uninterrupted supply of vaccines throughout the country, taking into account the growing needs of the healthcare system and the requirements of international standards.
The project is being implemented in accordance with the standards of the World Health Organization Regional Office for Europe. The feasibility study and preliminary construction estimate were prepared with technical support from UNICEF.
Funding is provided with the support of international partners. The Global Alliance for Vaccines and Immunization (GAVI) has allocated approximately $1.3 million for the construction.
The new warehouse will be equipped with modern temperature-controlled storage technologies, an automated real-time temperature monitoring system, backup power supplies, and digital inventory management solutions. The facility will store a strategic vaccine reserve, including a reserve for emergency response and infectious disease outbreaks.
