A six-year-old boy was hospitalized in intensive care unit after being attacked by dogs in Kalys-Ordo residential area of Bishkek on April 1 at around 3.30 p.m.
The child is currently in the intensive care unit of Children’s Hospital No. 3, and his condition is reported as stable, the boy’s father, Bekzat Tuytuev, told 24.kg news agency.
According to him, both parents were at work at the time of the incident. The child was under the supervision of his sisters and had gone outside to play. As a result of the attack, he sustained severe injuries, the boy’s skull was exposed and he has serious bites to his arms and legs.
Neighbors, without waiting for an ambulance, rushed the boy to the hospital in a truck. On the way, they encountered police officers, who took the child into a patrol car and delivered him to the hospital with sirens on.
The surgery lasted three hours. The boy remains in intensive care.
The father claims that the attacking dogs belong to a neighbor. Three of the animals were shot, though the exact number involved in the attack remains unclear. Despite the neighbor denying ownership of all the dogs, the boy’s father insists they were not stray dogs but domestic animals under the neighbor’s care.
Police are conducting an investigation. The child’s father is demanding that the dog owner be held accountable in accordance with the law.
