At a session of the Zhogorku Kenesh of Kyrgyzstan, deputies reviewed and approved in the third reading the draft law «On the Exchange of Credit Information.»
Under the amendments, the retention periods for Kyrgyz citizens’ credit histories will be significantly reduced: negative information will be kept for two years instead of five, while positive information will be retained for five years instead of seven.
The bill provides for reducing the storage periods for credit data, which is expected to improve citizens’ access to loans, ease the burden on the banking system, and stimulate the development of small and medium-sized businesses.
«Taking into account the proposals of deputies, we suggest reducing the registration period for negative credit history to two years and for positive history to five years,» Deputy Minister of Economy Benazir Nurlanova said earlier.
These changes are aimed at improving legislation in the field of credit information and creating more favorable conditions for borrowers who previously faced long-term restrictions due to past debts.
