In Batken, villagers earn money using a special greenhouse farming method. The press service of the Plenipotentiary Representative of the President of the Kyrgyz Republic in Batken region reported.
Azzamkul Tashbekov, a resident of the village of Chymgen in Leilek district, who grows strawberries in a greenhouse, has become a successful entrepreneur in the region.
Today, those who visit the greenhouse and see the results of his labor praise his work. The cleanliness and beauty of the greenhouse, as well as the delicious fruits, are the result of daily, painstaking work.
Currently, the gardener and his cooperative members are harvesting the strawberries, while his wife sells them on the domestic market. Demand for their produce is high—the price per kilogram reaches 1,500 soms.
It’s worth noting that 25 village residents, including Azzamkul Tashbekov, formed a cooperative and received support through the Strengthening Sustainable Food Systems in Batken through Improved Food Security and Nutrition project, funded by the Global Agriculture and Food Security Program (GAFS) and the World Food Program. They also underwent specialized training.
As a result, Tashbekov built two greenhouses in his yard on a three-hundred-square-meter plot: he grows strawberries in one and cucumbers in the other.
The strawberries, planted in November 2025, began producing a harvest in February of this year.
