A ceremonial event was held in Osh city on March 3 to mark Kyrgyzstan’s State Flag Day. The celebration took place in the city’s central square.

The ceremony began with the national anthem, followed by the traditional flag-raising ritual. Among those attending were Osh Mayor Zhanarbek Akayev, the Presidential Representative in Osh region Amankan Kenzhebaev, heads of government agencies, law enforcement officials, and local residents.

In his address to the public, Mayor Akaev emphasized that the red flag of Kyrgyzstan symbolizes freedom and the historical heritage of the nation’s ancestors. He noted that for the flag to always fly proudly, the country should be strong, the economy resilient, and the people united. He called on residents to demonstrate solidarity, mutual understanding, and patriotism.

It was also noted that in 2025, the city replaced the old 45-meter flagpole in the central square with a new 95-meter pole. In honor of the City Day, the new flag was raised in a ceremony attended by President Sadyr Japarov.
