A large-scale solo exhibition by artist Eldar Aitmatov Trace of Memory will be opened on March 6, 2026 at the Kyrgyz National Museum of Fine Arts, organizers told 24.kg news agency.

According to them, memory in the exhibition emerges as a trace of lived experience — an emotional imprint preserved in the material of painting. Trace of Memory captures what remains after feeling, after loss, after presence, where each canvas becomes a metaphysical reflection of the artist.

A graduate of the Royal Academy of Fine Arts of Brussels, Eldar Aitmatov has developed a distinctive painterly language that combines European academic tradition with his own deep meditative approach.

Before enrolling at the academy, his artistic development was influenced by masters of the national school — Teodor Gertsen and Ibragim Bakirov — as well as artists from other countries, including Oleg Vukolov, Togrul Narimanbekov, and Harro Erhardt.

The exhibition features both early works created shortly after graduation and more recent pieces, reflecting the author’s intensive creative exploration and inner artistic evolution.
