U.S. cardiac surgeons and doctors from the Research Institute of Cardiac Surgery and Organ Transplantation of Kyrgyzstan performed surgeries on 12 children in two weeks. The Research Institute of Cardiac Surgery and Organ Transplantation informed 24.kg news agency.
From May 2 to May 8, together with specialists from the Global Cardiac Alliance, they operated on seven patients, aged from two months to two years old, with severe congenital heart defects. Three of them died.
After that, President Sadyr Japarov visited the hospital and gave instructions to improve the conditions. Then the surgical interventions continued.
«Over the past week, since May 12, we have performed five surgeries, the condition of all patients is stable. Another 10 surgeries are planned for this week. The international mission will last until May 28,» the Research Institute of Cardiac Surgery and Organ Transplantation noted.
According to the Ministry of Health, a total of 70 children are included in the list for the operation.
