President Sadyr Japarov signed the constitutional Law «On Amendments to the Constitutional Law «On the Elections of the President and Deputies of the Zhogorku Kenesh». The press service of the head of state reported.
According to it, the document was adopted by the Parliament on April 16, 2025.
The purpose of the law is to bring the norm of Part 1 of Article 48 of the law into line with Part 1 of Article 3 of the Law «On the Constitution» and to clarify the term of the next presidential elections.
The said article is set out as follows:
«The next presidential elections are held on the fourth Sunday of January of the year, in which the term of office of the head of state, for which he was elected, expires, and are scheduled by the Zhogorku Kenesh no later than four months before election day.»
In addition, the law provides for an amendment to the norm related to the age of a candidate for participation in the presidential elections. In this regard, in Part 3 of Article 50, the words «not younger than 35 years old» have been changed to «has reached the age of 35 years on voting day.»
